mayumi is my go to person for bodywork in buenos aires. she does a mix of shiatsu and thai massage and it was perfect for what every tango dancer needs after abusing their body. i was super relaxed afterwards.

she is also a delightful person (check out that smile) and claims to be cristina ladas’ younger sister. i told her that i was cristina’s auntie and so we are related!!

Hello La Maleva

Hello La Maleva

La Maleva

I am staying at a Tango House, La Maleva, which is just 4 blocks from DNI on Tucuman. The house is beautiful. It has a huge dance studio which I have already used, a beautiful roof top area where you can dine, sun bathe, play cards, dance, or have an asado, high speed internet, and a wonderful host and hostess. My little room is perfect for me…. and it has air conditioning! Today was sweltering.

Here’s a link to their website: La Maleva

Hello Susan

Hello Susan

I went to the palerma flea market with Susan and shopped for 3 hours. Around the outdoor area at the square, there are liitle corridors lined with vendors hawking clothes. After awhile you see the same clothes but if you are persistent you can find great stuff and deals. If you walk to another area of Palermo, the prices are unbelievably high.

Hello Adrian!

Hello Adrian!

This is Adrian, my teacher at DNI. Along with Dana, he has nurtured my tango growth since that moment that I decided to focus on the dni technique. It has been a remarkable journey. I have also had the pleasure of watching his amazing development as a performer. We have both benefited tremendously from having Dana as a mentor.

Hello patience

Hello patience

I had a private with Dana and my mind was whirling afterwards. So many things were popping in my brain that I lost touch with my dance/body while i was stumbling around trying to find my way. Today, when I was practicing with Adrian, I told him that I had felt that something needed to break before I could fix it and I wasn’t sure where I was in the process. Amazingly, immediately while dancing with Adrian, I started feeling my body waking up and responding in some of the ways that Dana had asked for. It seems that the broken parts were mending and, like bones, were stronger. My boleo, my pivots, my connection, my embrace… all had improved by the end of the hour. Later, when I spoke to Dana, she said that I needed to be more patient. She’s right…. because I am sure this will happen several more times before I leave.
